Wild Woods Overview
While Wild Woods is a co-op game for 2-4 players, you can play it solo too. Game has a tutorial, and two difficulty levels that are normal and hard. You can select a skin for your character before you get started. They will need gamepads if friends play.
The controls are simple. Use the stick to move, and three buttons to attack, roll and interact with objects. Pick up and throw objects. It is a top-down and co-op action roguelike game that has a day-night cycle. Cats chop trees during the day and collect resources, taking them back to the cart that moves at a slow pace. The camera always follows the cart. At night, you need to protect the cart from badgers and rabbits, while also keeping the torch burning to illuminate the way. Then the cycle repeats.
You’ll reach forks in the road where the team votes on which path to take sometimes. Plus there are shops where you can upgrade the cart as you gather resources. From time to time, fallen trees block the path. These need to be cleared quickly, or the cart will crash, resulting in some of the cargo falling out. Both the cart and animals have health bars and you need to protect them.
